Stop Where You Are...

Music video:

G – genre

I – instruments

L – lyrics

E – emotion

Genre –

R&B/Soul/pop

Instruments –

The explosion of dynamics and texture increases in the chorus, siop where you are, suddenly the reason for the positivity is use of a major.

Lyrics –

Constant use of ‘you’, ‘your’. Making it a direct and personal address to everyone. To whoever need to hear it.

‘Don’t miss a day’ – impotence of the present. Everything that happens every day is meant for a reason. Live in the moment. Need to live, not to live in the negative.

‘This is the world we made, there is no better place’ – once again showing how we are where we are, we have made our life and out place. We need to live in this time, and it is our life so live it does not worry or be sad about where you are.

‘it’s true’ – reinforcement that this is the way you should be. Almost gives the sense that this is the only right thing.

Emotion -

Everyone is together, we all have and need respect for each other. Shouldn’t have any negative thoughts to begin. Everything isn’t what you seem.

Editing:

· Slow motion used to represent living in the moment, slow down and focus on what’s around – to focus on teen gang, parkour, dancer.

· Tattoo man – fade in from blur to medium close looking over shoulder

· Parkour boy, match on action from suicidal thoughts to cement ground

· CBR has the most screen time and interacts with all the characters – long take of her and shorter takes of the characters’ narratives

· Mainly straight cuts more realism

· Linear narrative for CBR – with all the characters simultaneously in one location

· Slow motion then slowed down further for dramatic effect i.e. parkour

Representations:

· Young, black, female has the most power – low angles, red dress, heels

· Subverts stereotypes of businessman and he turns out to be caring

· Homeless woman in low key lighting (stereotyped). High key lighting with man goes against the stereotype (subverting the conventions)

· CBR is suggesting how we should show gratitude, appreciate nature/world, friends

· Typical marginalised communities have a light shining on them and see other

· Don’t judge a book by its cover, get to know people

Camera:

· High angle static long shot of homeless androgynous looking person in the background which portrays them as inferior in society.

· Static wide shot of young pre-teen girl leaning against the concrete wall with her hood up – show she is isolated and lonely.

· Low angle close-up shot of CBR with back light illuminating her giving the impression of a spiritual, angelic quality and contrasts with her cold unwelcoming feeling.

· A series of Mid-shots of all the characters near the end brings them together
